My 1st visit to PBB @ Vanderbilt!

Happened upon it on my way to Prospect Park! Congrats to Tricia Lee for expanding so quickly from the location on Myrtle! I must say I’m a little jealous that the Vanderbilt patrons get to enjoy the more spacious of the two locations. But I also know we have a special place in Tricialee’s heart.

Early Breakfast on Myrtle

Tricia Lee from Polish Bar of Brooklyn [where: 470 Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11205], an early bird who owns and manages two beauty bars in Brooklyn, sent me this cheery message the other day:

La Stalla has breakfast at 8am tue-fri. Genius, a breakfast option that’s not a greasy diner!!! Thought i’d share. We early risers always get stuck with a bagel for breakfast. , now I’m happy. Plus it’s like $6 bucks!! I think its a nice change for the neighborhood.

I don’t always eat breakfast out (I eat my own amaranth or quinoa porridge) but this should be good news for those who do! La Stalla, on the corner of Myrtle and Ryerson was formerly known as Los Pollitos. [Where: La Stalla, 499 Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11205].

Treating myself to a much needed pedicure for having been stuck on the G for 35 minutes tonight!

Does Myrtle have a color complex?

Yes, Polish Bar of Brooklyn’s new cosmetics line. Polish Bar of Brooklyn is the nails and makeup place on Myrtle, near Hall.

Certainly not our first line of beauty products (would Karen’s Body Beautiful hold that distinction?) but definitely our first (and only) actual makeup line. (Full disclosure: I go to PBB all the time and live in the same building as its owner. I also own a blissful tube of their Joy lip gloss and the ladies at PBB taught me how to apply it and the rest of the unused makeup I have owned for years.)

I don’t think I envisioned when I moved to this neighborhood some time ago that I would one day buy my favorite lip gloss from its creator two blocks from my home.
